Escape

The town of Chilton had become desperate. They had banded together to stop the curse planted on their lives once and for all. That curse, was the Rockefeller girl. A trial was held in late November to determine the fate of the girl. It was not much of a trial really, her fate had been predetermined. The corruption among the law system of Chilton was over-bearing. Everyone was in on it except for the one that really mattered, and that was the suspect being held, the Rockefeller girl, and her family. The trial lasted a mere fifteen minutes, and the girl was found guilty on the charges of implementing witchcraft on the town of Chilton. She was sentenced to death. The judge struck his gabble upon the bench with brute force, ignoring the crying pleas from the girl’s family. The girl had to be carried from the bench, her body seemingly paralyzed from her “illness.” As the guards picked her up to carry her to the holding cell, Mr. Rockefeller sprung up, unable to bear the sight of his own daughter being treated as a criminal. The guards were subjected to two quick blows from the irate man. Mr. Rockefeller stole the girl from their arms and ran off. The Rockefellers had escaped the angry jury. They ran and ran mile after mile. Finally, they stopped after they could not run any longer, the weight of his daughter straining the man’s arms. There they dropped. They could not return to the town. For if they did, Mr. Rockefeller would be charged as an assailant and his daughter would surely be bound by the legs and hurled into the ocean. The Rockefellers must begin their life anew. This would not be easy, but it was the only way to protect their daughter.
